I have been fascinated by the art of photography since my childhood. Growing up in Singapore, a small island nation near the equator in South East Asia, the rest of the world seemed so far away. It was the 1970’s, Singapore was still a newly independent developing country, I saw the world through the photographs in old National Geographic magazines and grainy newspaper photos.
I bought my first camera when I was at university and learnt to use the University Union darkroom. The summer before my final undergraduate year was filled with the joy of experimentation in photography. Then life started to get busy and photography was relegated to the odd snapshot when travelling. I’ll have more time later to take it more seriously, I would always think.
I returned to photography as a creative outlet in 2019 when I turned 50. “If not now, when?”, I thought. This website is a record of my photography practice. All purely personal work. As I write this, I hope it will grow to be a record of some of my projects through the years.
I hope you enjoy them.
